The Burn & Cry

Check out "pretty much heavy fuckin' metal" band, The Burn and Cry, and their exclusive interview with BikiniGreats.com!

Burn&CryBG: Hey guys!  First off, how did the Burn & Cry first get together?

B&C: Marco, Eric and Kevin work together in New York City, and Marco and Kevin had been in another band with Pancho.  The Burn & Cry was our destiny.  We are totally gay for each other.  That’s right!   We’re very close…..

BG: [laugh]  Good to know!  What motivated you to make the type of music you do?

B&C: Each of our individual, separate, musical tastes really defines our sound, but we all just want to make hard, riffy, edgy music with thought provoking lyrics.   Question authority, and think for your godamn selves!

BG: How would you describe your music to somebody who had never heard it before?

B&C: I like the term Stoner Metal, or Scientist Rock, but as long as people label it something, who cares?  I would have to agree with my friend Kevin (a.k.a Vaporworm).  Pretty much heavy motherfuckin' metal!

BG: What kind of message do you think the people that listen to your music get?

Burn&CryB&C: There are many layers of messages to be found.  We write a lot about the union of opposites.  There is a spiritual enlightenment approach to some of our darker, alchemy inspired songs. Bush sucks is one message.  Don’t rollover for the man like a sheep is one message.  Don’t ever break my heart again you bitch is another…something for every little metal head man or woman.

BG: What did each of you do before you were in the Burn & Cry?

KEVIN: I have always been the caretaker here, Sir.

MARCO: I smoked a shit load of weed while delivering Pizza.

BG: What have you most enjoyed since you started the Burn & Cry?

KEVIN: The pillow fights are the best.

MARCO:  Yeah, the group hugs and and long walks are nice.

Burn&CryBG:  Ha... cute. So, were you scared shitless when you first started to perform? How about now?

KEVIN: The butterflies are my crack.

MARCO: Back in the day, early in my career, I was definitely scared.   Now, it’s more like nervous energy, and I use that to my advantage. When I’m on stage with my friends, I love it!

BG: What about your band has changed since you first started playing?

B&C: Well, we lost an original member, Mike Fuentes.  He quit music, and we couldn’t get with that.  Pancho has stepped things up in a big way.  He’s a tremendous musician, and our chemical elixir got a whole lot more potent with him in the band.  The other thing is our song writing has become much stronger, and as a band have become more confident.

BG: What are some of the band's goals and ambitions? Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

B&C: It’s all about Ozzfest. Side stage in a year or two.  Main stage in 3 to 5.  In ten years from now, we’ll be included in Sharon’s will.  We’ll also be huge in Japan, the Japanese are the craziest fuckers ever when it comes to heavy metal!
